I may be crazy…When Billy Joel released his album “Glass Houses” I was in junior high. That album came out and shot up the charts to #1 Pop Album for 6 weeks, sold 7.1 million copies in the US, and helped Joel win a Grammy (thanks Wikipedia). I must admit it’s a little strange, but when I get up in the morning or when I’m in the shower, songs will come to me out of nowhere. This morning, it was the song “You May Be Right” so I quickly asked Alexa for help cuing up the hit which she did in seconds flat. At the same time, she was scaing our conversations for clues on what she might feature on our Google and Amazon searches to sell us later! Just kidding. I suppose I could get sued for spreading such rumors. Anyway, back to the song. Sometimes, if and when I play the song that came to my head, it will inspire an article. So there you go, blog writing 101 by S. Paul Moehring, lol!
The chorus of the song reminds me of countless entrepreneurs and business owners that I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years. Sometimes when you describe or outline the uphill battles that you face as the leader of your business, friends, family members, naysayers might all join in unison to exclaim, “You are crazy!” And some days, when it gets the best of you, you might actually start to think, ‘you know, you may be right…I may be crazy’. But luckily the song’s lyrics don’t end there, the chorus continues with ‘But it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for!’ And your difficult climb up the hill of success, your determination, the amount of rejection you face, the number of times you have to give yourself a pep talk to keep going, and your refusal to lose…it just might be a lunatic you’re looking for!
Sometimes you’ve got to be just crazy enough to keep putting one foot in front of the other. So let them say what they want and you can be inspired by the fact that you might be crazy enough to ultimately succeed. Remember what Zig Ziglar said, “The price of success is much lower than the price of failure.”
